Translation has moved from the stage of practice to a complete scientific discipline, taught in universities on a large scale. Translating literature produced in different cultural societies constitute a hard challenge for any translators. Jokes, proverbs, idioms and other cultural indicators could simply be untranslatable in other societies. Through analyzing the translation of Roger Allen of Karnak Café by Naguib Mahfouz, this research paper aims at exploring cultural indicators which might constitute a few quite challenges. It focuses on some strategies and methods, applied by translator, to overcome annoyances and obstacles, which might arise during translation process.
