Abstract

The aim of this thesis is to provide a comprehensive design for a multilingual allergy guide, directed at largely non-specialized public of Americans with allergies traveling to Europe. This paper first outlines the various theories related to the popularization of science and a traditional terminographical approach that are necessary to the creation of such a popularized guide. Next, it delineates the step-by-step methodology to follow when designing and creating such a guide or glossary. Finally, it provides an analysis of the steps taken to create the final product, along with a sampling of pages representing the final glossary design. The overall methodology and sample pages provided by the thesis aim to serve as a jumping off point for anyone wishing to recreate the same or a similar popularized, multilingual glossary.
