Abstract

This master’s thesis focuses on the use of gender-inclusive language in children’s literature, examining the work “Camille aux papillons” by Swiss author Mary Wenker. The research has a dual aim: to identify the inclusive linguistic strategies adopted in the original text and to propose an Italian translation that effectively preserves and conveys the work’s inclusive intent. The qualitative methodology is based on semi-structured interviews, analysis of intermediate versions, and the study of the editorial and pedagogical context of the work. The proposed translation maintains the educational, narrative, and inclusive functions of the original text, respecting the structure of the Italian language. The results highlight a conscious use of impersonal forms, collective nouns, and epicene terms, avoiding complex graphic solutions.
