My dissertation deals with an analytical study of the translation of the recommendations issued by the Human Rights Committees. By means of a comparison between the English text (the source text) and the Arabic translation, we tried to shed light on Nida's concepts of formal and dynamic equivalence in the translation of these institutional texts. In addition to Nida’s approach, we have gone into details on Mona Baker's concept of equivalence, and the extent to which they are implemented in translation. We focused on both theoretical and practical aspects based on a series of extracts from recommendations. Through comparison and analysis at the grammatical, terminological, and textual levels, we have drawn conclusions about the most appropriate strategy for translating these institutional texts and the considerations that govern the use of each of the strategies.
