Abstract

The present study focuses on the websites of two professional hair care brands: Wella Professionals and Kérastase. The aim of the study is to evaluate the compliance level of the International and the Italian localized homepages of the two websites to a set of heuristic guidelines developed by Andreu-Vall and Marcos (2012). The assessment tool is composed of five groups of guidelines addressing the most important features of web usability. Results show that usability guidelines are highly respected most of the time. However, the Italian localized homepages of both brands obtained a lower score than the international ones. Moreover, analysis shows that there is also a difference between the results obtained by the websites of Wella Professionals and Kérastase that are consistent with the difference in terms of net revenue of the respective companies.
