Abstract This research is aimed at analysing the quality management of the translation process carried out in the Spanish Translation Section of the United Nations Office at Geneva from three different approaches: workflow management, participants in the translation process, and available resources. For this purpose, we reviewed literature on quality management in institutional translation and carried out field work consisting of a survey and interviews in which members of the Section participated. We concluded that, although quality is a key element in the Section, there is not a comprehensive quality management system in place, but a series of implicitly established practices.
