Abstract

In a society promoting healthy lifestyle and diets, the occurrence of obesity does not cease to increase. Among causes and consequences, cognitive restraint has been documented to be both, as well as either an asset in weight-loss and maintenance or a weight gain and regain risk factor. The present study aims at assessing its implicit processes with an especially designed Food Implicit Association Test, featuring pictures of whole food and processed food, paired with positive and negative concepts. Implicit measure is then compared with explicit measures of cognitive restraint (EDE-Q and TFEQ) and of intuitive eating behaviour (IES-2). Two populations are compared on those dimensions, a group of patients suffering from obesity (n=43) and healthy-weight control group (n=42)...
