Abstract The assessment of receptive language skills reading and listening has often been in the literature discussed. According to the current curricula, a particular attention should be paid to the evaluation of these skills: their evaluation should be closely linked with the learning objectives, whereby the main focus is on pupils’ communicative competencies and the ability to act. The fact that these skills are receptive doesn’t imply that pupils are passive learners: several interactive and constructive processes need to be mastered in order to understand a spoken or written text. The present article offers an overwiew of specific types of tasks that could be used during the preparation of tests and their assessment.
