Abstract

Negative emotions, such as sadness, can be disabling in our everyday life if not managed properly. Individuals experiencing severe periods of distress may evolve into clinical depression and anxiety. Therefore, emotion regulation is a crucial mechanism in order to maintain a healthy life. Among emotion regulation strategies, cognitive reappraisal is one of the most efficient in diminishing the negative impact of aversive situations.
