This chapter analyses the didactic gestures used by the teachers during sessions of oral story-retelling in Basque and Spanish, L1 and L2, respectively. The same participants at ages 5, 8 and 11 come from differ- ent sociolinguistic environments. The regulations are shown to be aimed at encouraging the fluidity of the narration and to handle the code-switching which is produced.
