The rich mosaic of Italian migration has been portrayed and ana-lyzed from different angles and through different methodological ap-proaches, throughout time and space. The aim of this monographic volume is to offer a fresh interpretative line, using three key concepts – Catastrophe, Fordism and Migration – which allow us to reinterpret the history of migration as a Global History. Furthermore, this collec-tive work aims to be the first of a series that intends to recover from oblivion the last catastrophe of the Italian emigration – «Mattmark, the Forgotten Marcinelle» – 50 years on from August 30th, 1965.
