Developmental management: A new perspective on change ?

Abstract

The concept of developmental management is introduced. It can be seen as a promising attempt of proactive change towards a higher level of cognitive differentiation. As the issue of whether and how organisations change has been central to organisation theory for decades, a short survey of main stream theories will be provided. Some of the major shortcomings will be analysed and re-interpreted; developmental management, self-organisation, constructivism, and organisational learning are explicated by using short cases
