POCUS has brought diagnostic improvement to the bedside for targeted clinical questions by providing real-time imaging to guide clinical decision making across various settings, including the internal medicine ward. However, achieving proficiency in POCUS is not automatic; it requires theoretical knowledge, hands-on training, and longitudinal supervised practice. As improper use of POCUS can result in misdiagnosis, unnecessary additional testing, and inappropriate treatment, minimum competency requirements have been established in several countries.
