The urban developments that took place in Meyrin during the 1950s and 1960s, guided by the principles of modernist urban planning, have left spatial legacies that are still visible today: territorial fragmentation, physical barriers caused by transport infrastructure, and the predominance of the automobile. This spatial organization is not conducive to active mobility.

The first part of the study analyzes the origins of this spatial configuration by presenting the urban and mobility visions of the time, particularly within the context of Geneva. It also highlights the key turning points that led to the emergence of a new paradigm, one that challenges the car-centered modernist urban planning model, and seeks to shed light on the current vision of mobility in Geneva.

The second part of the work, after collecting users' perceptions, aims to provide a potential response to the identified issues by proposing a conceptual framework of planning principles for the requalification of a specific area in Meyrin-village. This intervention seeks to reconnect the urban fabric and mitigate the severing effect generated by the Route de Meyrin by improving the quality of pedestrian and cycling links, rebalancing the allocation of public space among different modes of transport, and enhancing its ecological and recreational functions.
