The advent of artificial intelligence (AI) has posed significant challenges to higher education, particularly in staff training for digital competencies. The Centre for Continuing Education and Distance Learning (CCDE) at the University of Geneva has implemented a "three-level" support model in its efforts to digitise continuing education courses and train staff. This model includes the Threshold level, the Standard level, and the Advanced level, which have been continuously refined and tested. As AI technologies become more widely used, there is a need to redefine the objectives of each training level and explore more feasible implementation strategies. This paper outlines our exploratory process, shares the results of preliminary projects, and offers constructive recommendations on how AI competency training can be integrated into the broader digital skills development for continuing education teaching staff.
