In the past decade, people have witnessed the explosive growth of Big tech companies and their expansion into the field of financial industries. In my dissertation, I analyze the impact of Fintech Credit on China’s entrepreneurship activities and the structure of the online marketplaces. In Chapter 1, I demonstrate how the entrance of Fintech Credit expands the credit frontier by granting credit access to more under-served borrowers. In Chapter 2, I show how Fintech Credit can stimulate e-commerce entrepreneurship activities and boost online shops’ performance. In Chapter 3, I study the structure of the online marketplace and show how Fintech Credit can contribute to the prosperity of the marketplace. My findings have significant policy implications for the Fintech and banking regulations in developing countries like China.
