Abstract

This paper presents a way of representing a large class of object oriented mechanisms using Petri nets. Examples are given, and the usefulness of and limits to Petri net modelling are discussed. A means of understanding the overall operations of a system of executing objects is then put forward. It is shown how such a task view of object behaviour can be represented using Petri nets. The advantages of this modelling approach are considered, and future work is proposed.
