Numerous studies have shown the positive effects of improving metacognitive skills and knowledge on student's learning abilities. The study presented in this research paper involves 170 11-year-old-students who participated in a cognitive workshop program implemented in a 6th grade of a French school. Through 6 sessions of illusions, exercises, and explanations, teachers taught their students about the cognitive processes involved in learning in order to develop and promote their metacognitive abilities. In view of the strong predictive links between metacognition and several psychological concepts, we tested the experimental and control group's self-efficacy, schoolwork appreciation, self-esteem, and epistemic belief through a variety of questionnaires before and after the workshops...
