The equivalence of B-stability and A-stability

Abstract

It is a well-known result of Dahlquist that the linear (A-stability) and non-linear (G-stability) stability concepts are equivalent for multistep methods in their one-leg formulation. We show to what extent this result also holds for Runge-Kutta methods.
