Abstract

The recognition of facial expressions is dependent on underlying perceptual processes that guide the perception of emotional expressions such as analytic processing, which focuses on facial features and holistic processing, which relies on the whole percept. These two processes have been studied extensively in the last decade mainly using static expressions. In the present study, we employed dynamic facial expressions to gain a deeper understanding of the role of both perceptual processes.
