The concept of vulnerability has recently known a terrific success while (or maybe because) it remains vague. A dynamic approach, the life course perspective, contributes to a theoretical discussion supporting empirical investigations. This paper considers first why vulnerability provokes so much interest, then analyses the processes of vulnerabilisation through the prism of the interdisciplinary life course paradigm.
