Abstract

The very MVT definition includes ore deposits hosted in sandstone. Owing to the fact that the sandstone-hosted Pb-Zn deposits at Laisvall and Vassbo are epigenetic, formed by basinal brines long after deposition of the host rock, and this by the same mechanisms as those recognized in many carbonate-hosted MVT deposits, we maintain that using the term MVT is appropriate, useful, and has implications for the conceptualization of exploration models.
