CSR strategies are constantly evolving to adapt to public scrutiny and awareness. As such, CSR reports are important persuasive tools for banks. French- and English-language reports display varying cultural conventions, affecting everything from tone, structure, themes, and non-textual elements. Through the lens of Christiane Nord's functionalist theory, this study compares and contrasts the main cultural conventions contained in these reports, in the aim of determining which English translations successfully adapted target-culture conventions. This thesis includes the history of CSR, contemporary issues in the field, and an in-depth content analysis of a corpus of CSR reports.
