The goal of this thesis is to determine how and to estimate to what extent these events have had an impact on the modes of governance within the European Union. This work relies mainly on the example of the French State and the numerous measures it took during these troubled times to limit the damage, in relation to what was being pursued at the same time in Brussels. On the basis of this analysis, we intend to provide answers to the following research question: “In what ways did the three recent major crises – the Covid crisis, the energy crisis, & the Ukraine crisis – affect the governance of the European Union in its relationship with the French State?” Our hypothesis is as follows: the three recent crises have called into question eminently some of the legal and political acquis of the European Union, and in such a way that reactivated certain state functions and prerogatives.
