This research consists of 329 cisgender women aged 18 to 40 years old who read and responded to short scenarios that manipulated the presence and target of self-sexualization. We hypothesised that self-sexualizing for men (compared to self-sexualization for self and non-self-sexualization), would reduce feminist collective action intentions (H1), since participants would feel greater advantages of being a woman (H2), and this effect would be particularly strong for women that endorse benevolent sexism (H3). Results did not support a direct effect of self-sexualization for men on feminist collective action intention but found an indirect effect through the perceived advantages of being a woman.
