In most of the cases, ovarian cancer will be diagnosed at the advanced stages, when cancer is already widely metastasized, often creating undetectable microscopic tumor spots that represent a major risk for disease progression, as a complete resection is rarely possible with the existing techniques. This thesis aimed at proposing a novel and innovative solution not only for diagnosis, but also for treatment planning, surgery guidance and post-resection validation for patients with ovarian cancer. The main goal was to develop a hybrid imaging tool specific for ovarian cancer with folate as targeting moiety, a chelator coordinating Ga-68 for PET imaging and fluorescent dye for surgery guidance. The probe was succesfully synthetized and demonstrated good performance on ovarian cancer cell model in vitro and in ovo.
