The concept of positionality is analyzed through the contextualization of the figure of the interpreter in time and space, and through. the identification of recurrent elements which traditionally shape it. ln Interpreting Studies, the role of languages in the history of conflicts has been neglected for a long time. Only recently has it drawn the attention of an increasing number of scholars. ln this context, the essential role played by interpreters in conflict zones, including peacekeeping operations, is explored. The thesis also investigates the impact of positionality on interpreters' neutrality and on users' trust towards them. A classification of these elements is suggested in order to identify a link between the positionality and ethical issues in interpretation, with a focus on neutrality and trust.
