Vie - Pharma. 247 Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) stands as the most prevalent muscular disorder impacting children, occurring in nearly 1 male birth per 5000. Oxidative stress plays a significant role in the development of DMD. Recent research indicates that NADPH oxidases (NOX) serve as the primary sources of reactive oxygen species (ROS), suggesting their potential as an early and promising target in treating DMD. Moreover, in the skeletal muscles of mdx mice, which serve as a murine model for DMD, there is an increased expression of NOXes. Our investigation explored the involvement of NOXes in DMD's pathophysiology and examined the effects of diapocynin, a dimer of the NOX inhibitor apocynin, on the chronic disease phase in mdx<sup>5Cv</sup> mice.
