Abstract

We explore the possibility that the crystalline4He state is related to the onset of «superradiance» (coherent oscillation in phase with particular classical modes of the electromagnetic field) for the ensemble of4He nuclei. Working at zero-temperature we find evidence for this phenomenon and compute the correct liquid-solid transition pressure and the correct energetics.
