Microwave anisotropies from texture seeded structure formation

Abstract

The microwave anisotropy in a scenario of large scale structure formation with cold dark matter and texture is discussed. The authors find that in this scenario small scale fluctuations (on angular scales of a few degrees and less) are very effectively damped by photon diffussion. On a scale of 10 - 20 degrees they predict peaks with ampliutdes of ΔT/T ≍ (1 - 5)×10-5. About 5 to 10 such peaks are expected all over the sky. This result tells us that texture seeded structure formation is likely to be ruled out (or confirmed!) within the near future.
