Abstract

This thesis describes the identification and the characterization of natural products that target multiple myeloma cancer stem cells. In this thesis, the effects of three natural products, bruceantin, withaferin A and withanolide D, on the proliferation, differentiation and resistance of multiple myeloma cancer stem cells, respectively, were examined. Results indicated that these natural products warrant further investigation in additional myeloma stem cell models and in mouse models.
