The experience of Corinth's assembly is surrounded by a series of meaningful expressions in Paul's letters. Starting from an analysis of 1Cor vocabulary, this paper aims to find a better definition of Paul's intentions about Corinth's assembly, and to rethink Corinthians' reaction to Pauline approach. The paper highlights Paul's intention in Corinth's church foundation, with its clear novelty (at least compared to other contemporary forms of association, religious or not), and Corinthians' essential misunderstandings. The contribution will also redefine Paul's purpose to reveal a precise form of “spiritual technique of love” (connection between 1Cor 1-4 and 13). My ground assumption is that Paul did not have an actual ethical proposal. My main goal is to demonstrate how Corinthian practice is based on a misunderstanding between the ὑπερβολὴ ὁδός proposed by Paul and the ethical/noetic hypostatization pursued by them.
