Abstract We report the case of a 67-year-old woman who presented with a persisting corneal erosion after blunt injury. Six years later, a highly prominent corneal tumor had developed at the site of the initial erosion. Histological analysis revealed a malignant melanoma. This case provides evidence that malignant melanoma may be a long-term complication of corneal epithelial disorders.
