Abstract

On most of these topics, the author does not provide arguments that are completely novel, but on the whole, she speaks with a distinctive voice. This is a voice that reclaims for the feminist perspective important elements of the liberal tradition. Against the "maternalist" trend of some feminists who favour authoritarian prohibitions of all reproductive technologies and seek to protect women against their 'false consciousness' by telling them what they can and cannot do as regards reproductive services, Overall stands firmly by the language of personal reproductive rights, a position that is carefully argued for throughout the book.
