Abstract

Self-control processes regulate thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that are critical for every day functioning and for overcoming life's different circumstances. Researchers have suggested that these processes may draw on a common inner resource. Specifically, it has been argued that self-control tasks can deplete self-control processes, leading to ego-depletion on subsequent task performance. Importantly, the question about ego-depletion remaining global or in a particular domain of task is still on ongoing debate. Therefore, in the present research, we investigated in a series of experiments whether initial cognitive or emotion controls would affect differently a subsequent performance on a cognitive task. However, our results did not show any evidence of ego-depletion effects...
