Abstract Amphiphilic bioconjugates can be synthesized in situ by grafting polystyrene from a protein. The resulting giant amphiphiles display low polydispersities and the characteristic aggregation properties of amphiphilic biomacromolecules. A second, catalytically active guest protein can also be included within the superstructures.
