Abstract In this reply to John McDowell's answer to my article "The False Modesty of the Identity Theory of Truth", I argue that the kind of minimalist identity theory of truth defended by McDowell presupposes the identification of facts with true propositions and that minimalism cannot account for the normative character of the concept of truth.
