Abstract To evaluate the efficiency of a solid femoral nail and interlocking spiral-blade, inserted without reaming (UFN/ spiral blade, Synthes-Stratec, Oberdorf, Switzerland), for the fixation of pathologic and impending pathologic fractures of the proximal femur, particularly those involving the subtrochanteric area.
