Abstract

Angiogenesis is the term to define the growth of new blood capillaries by pre-existing blood vessels. The hypothesis that angiogenesis could be involved in tumour growth born in 1969 when a researcher remarked a high-vascularized retinoblastoma in the eye of a child [6]. Farther, in this publication, J.Folkman predicted the difficulty for tumours to growth without angiogenesis, the possibility of existence of angiogenesis factors and consequentially the idea about drugs as angiogenic inhibitors to treat tumours.
