Abstract In 2013, new crucial data dealing with the treatment options for chronic idiopathic and physical urticaria have been published. In this article, after a short introduction where we discuss the classification and the pathogenesis of the disease, we will focus on the therapeutic approach in patients with chronic urticaria. In particular, considering the data available on the treatment with omalizumab, we will discuss the indications and treatment modalities of chronic urticaria.
