Abstract

Using data collected with the L3 detector at LEP at the Z peak, the branching fractions of the τ lepton into the hadronic final states, h-nπ0v (n = 0; 1; 2;≥ 3) and h-h+h-nπ0v (n=0, 1,≥2), where h± denotes a charged hadron, are measured to be: B(h-v) = 12.09 ± 0.12 ± 0.10 %; B(h-π0v) = 25.89 ± 0.16 ± 0.10 %; B(h-2 π0v) = 9.10 ± 0.15 ± 0.13 %; B(h-≥ 3π0v) = 1.35 ± 0.11 ± 0.11 %; B(h-h+h-v) = 9.15 ± 0.11 ± 0.11 % B(h-h+h-π0v) = 4.81 ± 0.12 ± 0.08 %; B(h-h+h-≥2π0v) = 0.66 ± 0.08 ± 0.04 % . The first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The accuracy of these measurements is comparable to that of the current world average.
