Abstract

This paper provides an overview of the language legislation adopted by Estonia in 1989. The important sections of the law are presented in their original sequence and the main topics are summarized in a thematic table for quick reference. Some points of the legislation are then critically assessed with reference to the (Canadian) Charter of the French Language.
