Abstract

A quadratic magnetoelec. effect is detected in the incommensurate antiferromagnetic phase of BaMnF₄. Two of the eight third order coeffs. have been determined at 4 K: bXXX = 1.1 10-19 s.A-1, bXXX = -1.6 10-19 s.A-1 (relative values, not correlated with the sign of the spontaneous polarization).
