Optical, x-ray and DSC measurements on N(CH3)4HSO4

Abstract

X-ray diffraction measurements on single crystals of N(CH3)4HSO4 have shown the following sequence of phases: orthorhombic, normal .tautm. Ti = 235K .tautm. orthorhombic, incommensurate .tautm. Tc = 202K .tautm. monoclinic, commensurate. DSC and birefringence measurements show a second order phase transition at Ti and a first order one at Tc.
