A new tetragonal (42m) phase and related phase sequence in Cr-Cl boracite

Abstract

Using polarized light microscopy, a new tetragonal phase (42m), which is followed by an orthorhombic mm2 polar phase, was found in Cr-Cl boracite to be stable at zero electric field and zero mechanical stress. The true field free phase sequence .hivin.43m .hivin.42m mm2 was established.
