Tetragonal ferroelastic/antiferroelectric chromium-chlorine boracite, Cr3B7O13Cl, from x-ray diffraction on a single-domain crystal at 230 K

Abstract

Cr3B7O13Cl is tetragonal, space group P.hivin.421c, with a 12.1410(3) and c 12.1606(4) .ANG.; Z = 8, dc = 3.521; R = 0.029, Rw = 0.024 for 1991 reflections. At. coordinates are given. The structure contains 5 symmetry-independent Cr sites, 4 with 6-fold (4O + 2Cl) and 1 with 5-fold (4O + 1Cl) coordination.
