Measurement of the inclusive numu Charged Current cross section in the Near Detector of the T2K experiment

Defense date2012-09-17
Abstract

This thesis presents the first neutrino cross section measurement using data from near detector (ND280) at J-PARC (Tokai) of the T2K experiment. Events are inclusively selected for the existence of a muon. The measurement is given as a flux-averaged double differential cross-section in muon momentum and angle. The flux is predicted by the beam MC and tuned to in-situ and external data, including the NA61 experiment. Data were taken in 2010 (run I) and 2011 (run II), comprising a total of 10.796 $ imes 10^{19}$ protons on target. A total of 4485 inclusive charged current interaction candidates were selected in the first fine-grained scintillator detector of ND280 (FGD1).
