Epidémiologie, résistance antibiotique et impact économique des infections dues à Staphylococcus aureus résistant à la méthicilline

Abstract

Staphylococcus aureus is one of the most important bacterial pathogens that cause human disease and death. Methicillin-resistant S.aureus (MRSA) has been established since 1960 as an endemic nosocomial pathogen worldwide. Control of its transmission still poses serious challenges to infection control services. More recently, the emergence of MRSA as an agent of community-acquired infections (CA-MRSA) represented a major epidemiological change. When we begin to understand this change, due to the emergence of different strains at the molecular level, we note that the epidemiology of CA-MRSA is still evolving towards the invasion of hospitals. In our research, we addressed the following three topics: 1) antibiotic resistance in MRSA, its evolution and the current epidemiological situation, 2) antibiotic resistance and infection control, 3) the economic impact of infections MRSA.
