Abstract

This thesis examines how post-2022 Western sanctions have restructured the governance architecture of Russia's energy Global Value Chains (GVCs), with particular focus on the distributional consequences for technology. Using LUKOIL PJSC as a single case study, the analysis applies a Rent-Disruption Matrix, drawing on the GVC rent taxonomy and institutional political economy. The framework traces how sanctions affected technology, organizational, commercial, and financial rents across upstream, midstream, and downstream segments.
