Abstract

Valproate is an antiepileptic drug that is widely used as a mood stabiliser in the treatment of bipolar disorder, both in the acute phase and as a maintenance treatment. However, due to complex pharmacokinetics, the interpretation of valproate plasma concentrations remains difficult, a point we wish to clarify with a clinical case.
